Please disregard the date on this post...it's so much later than I had intended. The summer has flown by, porch has been worked on, first ARE test has been taken, etc. Life for all of us has been no less than busy, busy, busy. But that is no excuse for not posting about my favorite second son's...second birthday!!
Jude 'Bear' Reynolds is Two!! WooHoo!!
We kept little man's second birthday pretty simple and low key this year. Everybody from LeMars made it down. We worked on the porch, hung out and ate cake. :) It was really quite nice, and fun was had by all, including our little two year old. The boys and Grandma Mary walked uptown and made a pit stop at the park. I love this photo above. In 30 years when I see Jude hanging out the side of his pick-up looking at me, I'll think of this photo. The expression is just Jude. Bugger...now I've got tears in my eyes. What's a Mom to do?!?
Grandma Mary was obviously loving the curls this day. How can we not, right? They get comments and smiles from everyone, every time we go out! And here's the Bear poking Grandpa's eye out...I mean, bonding with Grandpa. :)
Aiden and Annie making towers below. Funny little side story about Annie...giggle. When Annie and Frank come, they park the big camper in the driveway and set up camp. The boys love it and think it's pretty cool to go hang out inside the camper. Especially since Annie has Twinkies, Dr. Pepper and Kraft singles cheese....even at breakfast time (ahem). We finally picked up some Kraft singles for the boys since they seem to love them so much, and today when I gave Jude a slice of cheese he smiled..."Annie cheese," he said. I thought that was pretty cute. It's fun to get little glimpses of how their minds are ticking!
Present time was pretty fun this birthday. Jude totally understood the whole getting to open presents bit, and I think he understood that he was the special boy for the day. He graciously let his brother help him open a few. :)
Like all little boys, this little guy is into "dozers," trucks, sticks and puddles...but one of his unique characteristics is that he is kind of into music. He calls it "sound." In the car he will say, "Sound on!" He heard a band warming up at the Iowa State fair and he was absolutely riveted in his spot, staring at the people with their instruments. I kind of wonder if it will be something that will stick with him. For now we encourage him with instruments of his own. Wes and I got him his first MP3 player...kind of funny getting a two year old a MP3 player, but he loves it and it's a child one so it will survive a few bumps.
And the cake. Strawberry flavor with a fish theme. Little guy is also known for hollering, "fishie, fishie!!" every time we drive over the Mahaffy bridge. May-be he'll be a fisherman like Grandpa Terry?
