Aiden turns 5

This year, since Aiden's birthday fell on a week day we extended the celebration. On his birthday we celebrated at the children's museum where the boys flew planes, made race cars and shot rockets, and in general had a great time running around and being boys.
Watermelon ice cream afterwords only added to the...well let's just say "energy!" :) Note the holes in both boys' jeans. Both of them wore through at least 3 pairs of jeans each this spring! I don't ever remember wearing though my jeans like that, although I'm sure my mother would tell you that she scrubbed our a fair amount of grass stains. And so consulting with my fellow mothers I have found that there are actually jeans with double layers on the knees. Oh the wisdom we gain as mothers. :)
Aiden's party with family this year had a dinosaur theme. Dinosaurs are playing a big role in our play time adventures this year. Jude especially seems to appreciate the characteristics of a dinosaur and can often be heard roaring around the house. However if you ask him if he's a dinosaur his face will get quite serious and you will be informed that, "No, I is a Jude bear". So perhaps the roaring is that of a bear...one never knows with that one. Aiden however is quite the big boy. Does anybody else wonder where 5 years has gone?!?
Mable only wonders when the cake will be cut. Her face says it all.
Presents included new clothes, remote control trucks and helicopters, art projects...and an odd looking bridge from Jude???
Which Aiden put to use as a dinosaur tunnel and hot wheel ramp...until he figured out what his next present was.
Took a few seconds to actually figure out that the picture of the fish tank meant that he was actually going to have a fish tank in his room! Then the excitement began and the bridge made a little more sense. :) Jude was excited....
...perhaps a little too excited!
And here's Aiden trying to fill a 36gal tank with Daddy's shaving mug. Only need another 230,498,203 more mugs kiddo. Or at least a Mom and Grandpa to fill the 5 gallon bucket between mug fills. :)
It was a great birthday...and our boys is 5. Unbelievable, I know.
Sigh.
