So...some of you might be wondering what in the world Annie put in the boy's pumpkins to make them drop to the ground!?! Well...when Annie and Frank come down with the camper the boys love to go hang out. It's kind of fun...but equally fun is that Annie always has Dr. Pepper, Kraft singles (which we all now call Annie cheese...since that's what Jude calls it) and some sort of little Debbie...twinkies...hoho's...you know, fun stuff for kids!! So instead of candy in the pumpkins, the boys were served Annie style with none other than: a package of Kraft singles, a couple Twinkies and a bottle of Dr. Pepper. Only Annie!! :)
Here's our two little kiddos dressed up for their first Halloween. They both picked out their outfits. Aiden was determined to be a police officer before he got to the store and we even found a police outfit, but he was convinced he wanted to be a zoo keeper the minute he saw this outfit! Wes and I even tried to talk him into something different...something with a little more color ya know!! But...nope, this was the winner. His preschool teacher just loved the outfit and thought it was perfect for him, and she was right.
Jude, being the animal lover that he is...picked out the horse costume. He kept this outfit on for all of about 3 minutes while I took the pictures and then immediately demanded that it come off. That's fine I thought, at least I got pictures...but he totally got into character on trick-o-treat night and walked all over the neighborhood with it on...no problems!! And absolutely everybody ooo'ed when they saw him at their door.
After finishing up our first stop at Annie and Frank's trailer we headed over to the neighbor's house and then drove over to another neighborhood in Mt. Vernon that's a little more kid friendly. Almost everybody had their porch light on and quite a few were just sitting on their front step or hanging out in the driveways giving out candy. Aiden was a bit anxious at first and would kind of hide behind Annie or Dad...but once he got the hang of it he kept begging for one more house.
Cute little horse bum! :)
Wednesday evening was Trunk'or'Treat at Awana's and even thought it was a terrible cold, windy, sleety evening...Wes and about 15 other cars decorated their trunks. Then the kids would come out in shifts according to age and strut their stuff. :) Everybody had fun!! A little update on house projects. We have a new front door. Here she is, her name is Gertie! And because before and afters are so much fun I wanted to post both of these photos. She came from a salvage yard in Paulina, Iowa and was covered with layers and layers of paint!
Our front door is 36" wide which is exceptionally wide for an older house and it was pretty exciting to find a storm door that would fit. And this is the after shot...after going to Annie door spa and getting her own facial peel. All of her wrinkles and crud are gone and now she sparkles on our front porch!! In place pictures to come. And not to be out done the living room floor got a bit of a peel as well. If I could use the word peel I think my muscles would have been much happier. But this big reveal involves hand chiseling (literally using wood chisels) the old carpet pad off of almost every square inch of wood floors beneath. There is some patching to do, but I think this old wood floor is going to shine up beautifully once she is finished!
