Jude made a trip straight up to the NICU after birth. My water broke on Tuesday after a visit to the doctor (hindsight is 20/20...I wish I would have realized that it was my water that broke). And during labor I had a fever and infection that was passed onto Jude.
So we spent a week up in the NICU with Jude while he recived a seven day treatment of antibiotic. Looking back...it gave us some transition time to adjust to baby without the energy of a 2 1/2 year old. :)
Aiden and Grandma came a visited every day. Big brother is pretty excited about baby brother. He likes to share tractors with Jude and sit close to the action as you can see above. "Gentle" will be a word that he will probably be hearing quite a bit for the next few months. But I'm sure in no time little Jude will be keeping up with big brother. :)
He is a pretty strong, healthy little guy. When he was under the billy light for his jaundis he slept on his tummy because he was a bit crabby about being naked and on his back. With butt in the air...that little guy was already one step away from crawling!! No joking, he would get those little back legs scooting and push himself forward. :) Those strong legs would be a result of all of the yoga stretching he did while he was inside. Unlike Aiden's periotic kicks, Jude was constanly stretching and pushing against the inside of my tummy. I could have sworn it was a girl in there...all of the old wifes tales pointed to it: faster heart beat, needle and thread swinging in a circle....but little Jude is certainly not a girl. So someday I'll have to apologize for refering to him as "she" while he was in my tummy!! :)
Aiden got a chance to take it easy at Grandma's house while the rest of us were at the hospital. I love this photo of my little man...he looks so big boy relaxing in this chair. :) And below he's hanging out with grandpa...surfing the internet for Bob the Builder web sites. Thank-you Grandma and Grandpa for all of your help with Aiden!!
Two boys now!! I am out-numbered...somehow I need to figure out how to make my vote count for more. :) The next few weeks we'll be taking it easy...figuring out our little routines. We're so happy to be home again..and so happy to now be a family of 4 (+ a Mabel)!!
Welcome home baby Jude!!
