Madison Farmers Market

A few weekends back we had the grand opening for the Kirkwood Hotel, and so Grandma Mary offered to take the boys for an extra long weekend in LeMars. The boys had great fun, and Wes and I took the opportunity to have a little fun as well. I've been wanting to hit up the farmers market in Madison after our neighbor had told us about how close it was and about the wonderful blueberries. I was sure he said blueberries in September...but my memory must be slipping...there were absolutely no blueberries. Which was perfectly fine because you really couldn't pass a stall without seeing something beautiful and yummy.
We were told that it is tradition to start at one of the corner stalls and walk around the market with pastry in hand. Check...no problem!! (pumpkin scone...it was yummy!) We also bought a loaf of still steaming bread at this booth as well. I'm not sure why I look so grumpy in this photo. I had already found a great coffee shop where I met a very friendly boxer with whom I shook hands (or paws) and had a scone in the bag. I think I was trying to figure out if Wes had taken the picture yet. :) And notice how everyone is carrying their market bag. Ha...I fit right in with my new farmers market bag I had sewn up about a month earlier with cool fabric from Home Ec!! I know...I'm cool! :)
Apples were what was in season...I made Wes haul around a jug of cider for me. :) Every booth was beautiful...all the colors of the produce and just the sheer amount of product was amazing!
A cool hat store called the Sacred Feather...all they sold was hats!

And on a completely separate note. Jude bear feel asleep while I was running the vacuum and cleaning the kitchen. :) Cute!!
