Visit to the Alpacas

Last Saturday was probably one of our last "family" Saturdays until Thanksgiving. Our deadline for Marion Middle School is fast approaching and ready to start monopolizing our weekends. :( We made the best of it though and got a number of errands done, and we made a trip to Vinton, Iowa to visit a yarn event. Ha, ha...I know what your thinking. Sounds like I dragged the boys to do some yarn shopping.
So, may-be you were right...
There was a wonderful selection of hand spun yarns in all shades of alpaca. And they were named after these guys in the background here, which was kind of cool. I would pick up a skein of yarn and think, hey...I just met that guy. :)
The open house was also very much so geared for kids. There were ponies, little goats, sheep in addition to lama's and alpacas...all friendly and willing to eat out of the kids hands. There were games and face painting. And inside the house you could get hot cider, chili and a number of different baked goods.
Both boys (or may-be I should say all three boys) had lots of fun. Jude was absolutely loving the alpacas and kept insisting that I walk over by them...but not too close because then it was scary. Kind of an interesting balancing act to make him happy. :) He is such an animal guy. And of course Aiden loved it because it's about the next best thing to the fair.
Here the boys are in their fall garb. Jude's hat got whipped off about 20 times, I'm surprised we got a photo with it on. :)
And here is my little helper. I turned off the vacuum the other evening to answer the phone and Aiden decided to step in. It was just before bedtime and I think he was delaying going upstairs a bit...which I of course had absolutely no problem with when it involves help with cleaning!! How could I say no, right!?!?
