I got back home from Colorado at around 12:30 last night, so my welcome home from the boys was this morning. Jude gave me the usual morning welcome, with arms stretching up for me to come pick him up out of bed...nothing too out of the ordinary except that he followed me pretty closely this morning around the house.
Aiden's welcome gave me a bit of a smile. Some time in the night he had snuck into bed with Wes and I (this has been his regular routine for the past month or so). Jude and I were up this morning a bit earlier and I had returned to our room to find some clothes for the day. Aiden, who was the last one out of bed popped up and with an urgent note to his voice said,
"MOM" (rubbing eyes, standing up to his knees)
-yes honey
"Need to get candles for Annie's cake. You going to stay here. Went to see Aunt Corrinn. Mommy ride on an AIR PLANE!!"
-hug-
"I love you Mom"
It was a nice welcome home.
It was a nice welcome home.
Lunch time struck me as kind of funny today. I cut up a piece of cantaloupe and a piece of watermelon for Jude and then ran to the other room to do something. When I came back the watermelon was all gone and the cantaloupe was all on the floor (except that one piece of watermelon, which I'm assuming was an accident...seeing as it apparently was an emergency to remove all cantaloupe from the high chair).
Strawberries were apparently OK and were gobbled up with no pieces thrown overboard. Below is Jude showing me where the light is. He is just beginning to understand the question that we use to ask Aiden, "Where is the light." And if Jude has nothing else to distract him he will give you an answer in his own sweet way.
I've been trying to give Aiden a few choices since he is getting a bit older and enjoys his opportunities to make decisions for himself. And so he had decided to have a meat sandwich with butter (always the butter). So when the sandwich was made and he was sitting at the table I asked him if he wanted his sandwich cut into triangles or rectangles today. "Circles," he said. Ugh. So a circle he got. Mable particularly liked the circle decision, since she got to have the extra corners. :)
