One more birthday

Today is Dad's birthday.
Happy Birthday Wes!!
Friday the boys and I spent the day getting ready for Dad's birthday. Aiden and I created a sidewalk card to welcome Wes home from work. Complete with flowers, roads and cars!!
This year Aiden got to decorate Wes' cake. I spread out the vinyl tablecloth, which by the way I now believe that no mother should be without!! I think I may start giving them as baby shower gifts...can you imagine opening up a vinyl tablecloth at your baby shower. He, he he. :) But seriously, I have been liberated by the vinyl!! In the past I would have been a bit leery about opening up 4 cups of sprinkles for a 3 year old next to a double stacked chocolate cake. With the vinyl table cloth I just sat back, held the camera and let the little guy do his thing. (so thank-you Annie!!)
And boy did Aiden do his thing!! There was about a half inch of colored sugar and sprinkles on this cake...and it looked absolutely beautiful!! Although Wes and I had to admit...there was a bit of a crunch to the icing. :) Take a look at the sprinkle canister above. At first Aiden was very careful and opened one section at a time...and then by accident the whole top came off and WOW, OH BOY he discovered that he could sprinkle with 6 sections all at once!! (it's OK - we had vinyl) :)
Here is the master piece. It wasn't complete without candles.
And below is Aiden, singing happy birthday to Wes.
And Jude taking it all in, with the squeaky elephant of course.

Happy Birthday Wes - have a wonderful day!!
