At the kitchen table

Some of you have heard that little man has graduated to a big boy bed. His crib transitions into a toddler bed with little sides on the front so that he doesn't roll out. The switch came after he climbed out of his crib on Sunday afternoon. There was no crash, bang or thunk on the floor when it happened....oh no, it was as if he had been planning this escape and had waited until the perfect moment to carry through. He simply caught his leg over the top, hoisted his little body over and lowered himself until his foot caught the matress and he could step down. Took all of a split second to complete. So, instead of working that afternoon Wes had to come home and help convert the bed and pack up toys and other sleep distractions. :) So far little man has been doing pretty good. In the evenings I sit in the rocking chair until he is asleep. Nap times are different of course. Little man is a chatter box in the middle of the afternoon, and as he told me today when he was suppose to be closing his eyes, "Mom, it's not dark out!!" Ugh. So it's going to be a process. At first I though...what am I going to do if this little process takes an hour every time (which it does), but now I find it's kind of nice to be forced to sit in a chair. I read or stitch while practicing my patience and 'do not smile' face. :)

The kitchen table has become a favorite location for tractor driving...and the occasional cheerio snack. I just pile a handful of cheerios into the John Deere wagon and little man munches on them while loading and unloading to his hearts content. And I get to stitch, or pay bills, or whatever by the sunny window and appreciate the effort my tulips are making despite the wierd snow/rains we keep getting. Hopefully we'll have sun this weekend!!
